Who We Are
Rooted in a legacy that stretches back to October 28, 312 A.D., the Sovereign Constantinian Order of Cappadocia—one of history's most enduring Christian chivalric institutions—was born in the aftermath of Emperor Constantine's victory at the Battle of the Milvian Bridge under the sign of the Cross (In Hoc Signo Vinces). It symbolized a new era for faith-led leadership, uniting military valor and spiritual devotion.
To honor his bravest and most loyal warriors, Constantine I, Emperor of both the Eastern and Western Roman Empires, appointed fifty of his bravest warriors as the founding guardians of the Order and bestowed upon the Order the ancient, 3,000+ year old Kingdom of Cappadocia, which the Order ruled across more than 1,100 years of the Byzantine Empire. Reaffirmed as a sovereign subject of international law on October 30, 2012 (Judgment No. 5/2012 of the International Civil Court, Permanent Organ of the European Court of Arbitral Justice of Ragusa, Ragusa, Italy), the Sovereign and Royal House, the Principality of Cappadocia has remained a symbol of faith, service, and honor for over 1,700 years.
Today, the Royal House unites five living institutions across more than twenty-five Grand Priories worldwide: The Sovereign Constantinian Order of Cappadocia, The Royal Order of Constantine the Great and Saint Helen (ROCGSH, a 501(c)(3) foundation), The Royal Chapter, The Royal and Military Order of Saint Charles (founded 1738), and The Royal Constantinian Academy of Arts and Sciences.

We are guided by two towering figures of faith and courage whose examples remain at the heart of our mission to unite, protect, and serve with honor:
- Emperor Constantine the Great, the first Christian ruler of Rome, who united the faithful under the banner of religious freedom and justice.
- Empress Saint Helen, his mother, whose discovery of the True Cross symbolizes devotion, compassion, and tireless humanitarian service.

A Knightly Honor That Cannot Be Bought
Knighthood, Damehood, and ennoblement within our Order are among the highest honors that can be bestowed. Titles include Sir, Dame, Lord, Lady, Baron, Viscount, Count, Marquis, and, in rare cases, Duke or Duchess. These are conferred solely on merit, ensuring the timeless integrity of our Order.

A Legacy Rooted in History
The Sovereign and Royal House of the Principality of Cappadocia traces its roots to the early Christian and Byzantine periods, when Cappadocia was a crossroads of culture, faith, and scholarship—home to the Cappadocian Fathers, early monastic hospitals (the Basiliad), and rock-carved sanctuaries that sheltered the faithful across centuries.
