The Merit System — The Pathway to the Royal Order

Membership in the Royal Chapter is not only an honor but also the first step toward possible elevation into the Royal Order of Constantine the Great and Saint Helen. The Royal Order, one of the world’s oldest chivalric traditions, reserves its knighthood and damehood for those who have demonstrated not only distinction in their personal lives but also steadfast commitment to the ideals of the House: integrity, charity, loyalty, and guardianship of culture.

To ensure that every Knight and Dame embodies these principles, the Merit System was established as the formal pathway into the Order. Under this system, all members of the Royal Chapter must serve for a period of one year before being considered for elevation. This period is not ceremonial alone; it is a season of formation, service, and discernment, during which each member’s suitability for knighthood or damehood is observed and assessed.

03

Engaging in charitable endeavors, offering time, talent, and resources to advance the House’s work.

04

05

Building relationships within the Chapter, fostering unity, and uplifting others in brotherhood and sisterhood.

06

One-Year Discernment

Six Standing Committees of Active Vocation

Both Royal Chapter and Royal Order members are asked to participate actively in at least one working committee of the House:

Executive Committee
Membership Committee
Strategic Media & Communication
Fundraising & Alms
Social Media, Marketing, Branding & Technology
Event Support Council

A True Vocation of Nobility

The merit system is not designed to exclude, but to prepare and refine. It ensures that when a member is invested as a Knight or Dame, the honor rests upon a firm foundation of lived values and proven service. It transforms titles from mere recognition into a true vocation of nobility—a calling to carry forward the mission of the House in both word and deed.

By embracing this pathway, members of the Royal Chapter step into the living tradition of Constantine the Great, linking their own lives to a legacy of over seventeen centuries. It is both a privilege and a responsibility, one that ensures the Royal Order will continue to be built upon the strength of noble character, loyal service, and enduring vision.

Meetings & Convocations

The Duty of Active Participation

Membership in the Royal Chapter entails both honor and responsibility. Among the foremost responsibilities is the duty of active participation in the life of the Chapter and the Order. This participation is not symbolic—it is the very means by which the traditions of the House are kept alive, and by which each member demonstrates commitment to our shared mission of service, philanthropy, and nobility.

Monthly Meetings: Monthly meetings of the Royal Chapter are essential opportunities for fellowship, education, and planning. Attendance enables members to stay informed about ongoing initiatives, contribute their ideas and talents, and foster the relationships that form the heart of our noble community.

Recruitment as Stewardship: Equally important is participation in recruitment events. As the Chapter grows, so too does its ability to serve. Each member is encouraged to introduce worthy candidates to the Chapter, thereby strengthening our body with individuals of integrity, generosity, and vision. Recruitment is not merely an administrative task; it is an act of stewardship, ensuring that the noble heritage entrusted to us is passed on to those who will honor and preserve it.

Priory Events & Investitures: Members are also expected to attend and support priory events and investitures. These occasions are the most visible expressions of our tradition, where the dignity of the Order is displayed to the world and new members are welcomed into our fellowship.

Investitures, Titles & Accolades

When a Member of the Royal Chapter is nominated, recommended, and declared a POSTULANT, they are invited to receive the accolades of a Knight, Dame, or Noble of Merit or Justice of this Order of Chivalry in time-honored tradition and based on the Fons Honorum powers granted in this, one of the oldest Royal Houses. Nominations that do not win this favor are sealed in the Royal House’s vault for 25 years.

A knighthood, damehood, or noble title in the Orders of Chivalry of this Royal House, the Principality of Cappadocia, cannot be purchased, negotiated, or given as a favor. It is one of the most sacred acts an Emperor, King, or Prince, bestowed with Fons Honorum rights, can perform.

From that moment a Postulant is knighted, they are entitled to be known henceforth as “Sir” or “Dame,” or for those being ennobled, as “Lord or Lady,” “Baron or Baroness,” “Viscount or Viscountess,” “Count or Countess,” “Marquis or Marquess,” and in rare circumstances a “Duke or Duchess” in this Royal House, the Principality of Cappadocia. The Knight, Dame, or Noble is also bestowed with rights, decorations, and accouterments.
